Bright and Earthy Kitchen

There is something about designing kitchens that will never get old. This was a special project that evolved along the way, and is a perfect example of how e-designs can help with the design decision making process.

The family started out wanting to update for their current 90’s kitchen. The biggest concerns were taking out the awkward peninsula, adding more uninterrupted counter space and creating a lighter and brighter kitchen area.

Our list of goals were to:

– Take out the peninsula

– Create a larger center island and add seating

– Place the sink up against the wall, instead of at an angle

– Remove the microwave from above the hood and replace with a vent hood

– Create more continuous counter space

– Find a solution for the refrigerator wall

We started with delivering three different layouts – all with varying options on how to arrange upper cabinets, adding in island seating and how to reconfigure the countertop space.

After sending those, the family wanted to see what it would look like to open up the wall and move the refrigerator. Although not initially in the plan, this layout would allow for more open concept living and allow more light into the kitchen. We were also able to extend the island and provide a massive 4×8 slab or workspace.

Being able to see what the space would look like opened up was exactly what the family needed in order to make that decision! We swapped out a few finishes and this was the final product!

As part of the Full Service Package, we provided measurements, an elevation plan and source links to all the finishes in the space.
