Built-in cabinetry can add so much value to your home. They offer a functional storage solution and the ability to display decor items to showcase your style. We’ve compiled a few of of our favorite built-ins to give you some inspiration for your next build!
Mix in Natural Wood Tones
Add some wood tones to your built-ins to give them a uniquely custom feel. Here, we offered two variations of wood additions. In the first picture, we did shelves and shelf dividers in a beautiful wood tone. In the bottom picture, we opted to keep the center part of the built-in cabinet white, but did completely wood cabinetry and shelving units on either side. Which would you choose?
Use a Long Built-In to Transition Between Spaces
With all the open floor plans nowadays, it can be a challenge to find ways to clearly define and transition between two spaces in the same room. A long built-in like this can easily show the living room area with the bookshelves and fireplace, and then transition into the dining area with a bench.
Use a Bold Color to Draw Attention
Contrasting the color of your built-ins with the rest of the room will immediately create a bold statement. We used black in both of these walls to keep consistent with the neutral tones the clients wanted to use, while also creating a massive focal point.
Create a Cohesive Feel Between Different Elements
Adding a wardrobe, bench and desk all to the same wall? That sounds crazy! But, adding it all into a seamless built-in? Now, it feel cohesive and high-end.
Create a Cozy Reading Nook
There is nothing I love more than a window seat. I’m looking to put one in my own house because they are just so welcoming and cozy looking. We added small shelves on either side of the window seat to store books and the client can’t wait to cuddle up here and dive into a book.
