Teenage Bedroom Makeover

This client reached out to us wanting some ideas on how to makeover their teenage kids’ bedrooms.  As their son and daughter were growing up, they wanted some help redecorating the bedrooms to reflect their individual personalities. This makeover is a Christmas gift to the kids so they really wanted to go all out and give the kids something fun.

We’ll show you what we created for the client as well as our best teen bedroom tips!

The daughter is into all things girly and loves to have friends over. We prioritized lots of seating for all the sleepovers and gossip sessions. She really wanted a loud wallpaper and a mix of patterns to extenuate all the feminine details.  We added a vanity/desk combo that can double as a place to get ready and do homework.

Tip: When choosing furniture for teenagers, we try to find quality items that they can use in a dorm room or first apartment. All of the ottomans and extra chairs would work well for college get togethers. The vanity can easily be converted to a remote work desk or college study station.

For this second option, we were continued with the feminine theme. Both rooms have wall treatments, and this second wall treatment definitely leans more in the glam direction.

For the son, he wanted a more industrial and moodier feel to his room. As a big music junkie, we found some creative ways to store and display his record collection.

Tip: If your teen has a collection of something, find a fun and portable way to display it. That way, they can bring their collection to their new place when they move out.

Tip: It’s fun to go bold for teen rooms. Kid’s have such big personalities – showcase it in their bedrooms! Wallpaper, big patterns and bold colors will all look great in here.
