My Bedroom Design: Where it's been & where it's headed

When we purchased this house, we knew it needed a lot of work! We decided to give the primary bedroom a makeover so we would have a little sanctuary to retreat too when the rest of the renovations piled up. Now that we’ve had some time to settle into our home, I’m giving the room a little refresh again!

Where we started:

When we moved in, the primary bedroom had a brown wallpaper accent wall and dark beige paint on the remaining walls. I loved the vaulted ceiling and big window in this room though!

We ended up pulling up all the carpet and replacing with LVP. It has been a great flooring solution here. The neutral warm white

The First Renovation:

Before we even moved in, we decided to tear up the carpet and put in LVP. The carpet was in really bad shape and needed to go. We chose a very light neutral wood tone for the LVP.

For the paint, we went with Sequoia Glade by Valspar. I love how this shade shifts from green to blue depending on the light. We went bold and decided to paint the ceiling as well.

I loved having the bedroom feel like this moody little cave that we could retreat to after a long day. The dark walls really made the white bed pop. It was dark and different, and I will definitely use this color again somewhere else down the road.

The Refresh:

It’s time for something lighter! As much as I loved this moody room, I’m ready for something new. We plan on moving in the next year or so, and dark primary suites aren’t necessarily the norm, so hopefully a lighter color will also work well for the new occupants.

The previous room leaned more towards a cozy. moody, & modern look, and we’re going to lean into the old world, warm, transitional feel this time around. So far, we’ve repainted everything to Dimity by Farrow & Ball. I also made some nightstands inspired by Arhaus Conrad chests. The Arhaus chests were too wide to use as nightstands and I wanted to flex my woodworking skills.

Here’s some inspiration images that I’m using to guide the design of this refresh:

I love warm color palettes, small florals, fun patterns, and lots of texture and hope to incorporate all this into the the room. We have some dark wood tones already and I’ll be adding beams soon too!

Be sure to follow along for the process!
