Something about coastal decor instantly makes me feel like I’m on an East Coast beach in July. Here are our best tips to help you bring that coastal charm into your home this summer.
1. Use a neutral color palette
Start with a warm neutral color palette. Use white paint with warmer undertones, light blues, sage greens and accent with darker navy and warm browns. Coastal design focuses on bringing in muted earth tones.

2. Layer in natural textures
One of the defining factors of coastal design is layering textures. It gives an expensive, lived-in look that makes you feel like you’re in a Hamptons vacation home. Try layering linen throw blankets, floral patterned pillows, and wicker baskets. We love using lighter woods like pine and poplar in coastal spaces.

Jute rugs are a classic design element that fits perfectly in a coastal environment. We love layering a large jute rug underneath a smaller, more decorative rug.
